This commitment and diligence are paying off. Several Tyson Foods case ready facilities have been recognized by the North American Meat Institute (NAMI) for their Environmental Management System (EMS) models. NAMI is a trade association that represents 95% of beef and pork producers in the United States.

What is an EMS?

NAMI created its Environmental MAPS program to achieve continuous environmental improvements throughout the meat and poultry industries. Encouraging production facilities to implement an EMS is part of that effort.

According to NAMI, an EMS is a “specialized program designed to minimize that facility’s environmental ‘footprint’.” Each program is designed for individualized, facility specific environmental and organizational goals.
